Enugu, southeast Nigeria’s capital state came alive as the campaign train of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi touched down on the Coal City State, Thursday, April 12.
The presidential hopeful who has not hidden his joy over the caliber of the crowd that welcomed him a few days ago in his home state of Anambra, moved his nationwide campaign to the neighbouring Enugu state where he first addressed a town hall meeting at his Alma Mata, the University town of Nssuka before proceeding to Michael Okpara Square, the venue for the mass rally.

Earlier in the build-up to the event in Enugu, the state Presidential Co-ordinator of the Labour Party, Chief Emeka Mamah while addressing the media expressed great joy at the reception accorded Mr Obi by the good people of the state.

Also speaking on the same note of enthusiasm, the Labour Party governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga boasted that the state is entirely for Obi.
Speaking to a mammoth crowd who came to show him solidarity, the former Anambra State governor who is currently the front runner in the next month’s presidential poll encouraged his supporters to jettison politics of tribalism and religion, noting that the presidency is nobody’s turn but it is rather the turn of Nigerians to take their country back from the corrupt politicians who have held the people down all this while.
The campaign carnival witnessed some of the bests in the Nigerian entertainment industry perform to the admiration of the intimidating crowd of Obi/Datti supporters.
In a performance with which he held the audience spell bound, a top comedian, Klint De Drunk threw a comedy punk at the direction of the Presidential Campaign spokesperson of the party, Bar. Kenneth Okonkwo who he told that he was Living in Bondage until called by Peter Obi.

Others in the campaign team of Obi and his running mate Datti Baba Amed included the fire-brand social crusader Aisha Yusufu, Kenneth Okonkwo, the spokesperson of the Obi/Datti campaign team, party bigwigs among other notable personalities.
Earlier on arrival, Obi moved into an interactive meeting with the members of the traditional council of Enugu State whose chairman is HRH Igwe (Amb.) Lawrence Agubuzo.
In a statement released on his Twitter handle, Obi expressed his gratitude to the people of Enugu for the love shown to him.
“I am awed by the massive love and support shown by Obidients in Enugu State today. It was indeed a successful outing. We are one step closer to victory. You can count on us to deliver on our promise. Thank you, Enugu. -PO
